Dr. Nikita Ramachandra is a Visvesvaraya Postdoctoral Fellow at IIT Guwahati and a researcher in power systems and smart grid technologies. She previously served as a Project Officer at IIT Madras, where she contributed to the development of advanced grid automation functionalities using a microservices architecture built on open-source Linux Foundation Energy (LF Energy) software stacks.
Her research primarily focuses on advanced distribution grid solutions such as Volt–VAR optimization, network reconfiguration, auto-reclosure, and service restoration within scalable, containerized frameworks using Kubernetes and Docker. She has also worked on photovoltaic (PV) systems, including mitigation of partial shading effects, PV array reconfiguration, and intelligent energy management for residential systems
Her broader interests include smart grids, hybrid AC/DC microgrids, MVDC energy management, and scalable grid automation.
Dr. Ramachandra has authored multiple high-impact journal publications in leading venues such as IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, Journal of Cleaner Production, and Energy Conversion and Management. Her work emphasizes practical, deployable solutions for modern power systems, particularly for developing regions with increasing renewable energy penetration.
She is passionate about advancing open-source innovation in energy systems through research, collaboration, and real-world implementation.
